After 12-hour campaign and 25,000 support messages, tech giant YouTube unblocks WION, India News News

After a massive 12-hour viewer-led campaign that saw more than 25,000 tweets in support of WION, YouTube backtracked on Saturday and unblocked the global channel it banned for reporting Russia’s statement. on the war in Ukraine without bias.

WION, while reporting the Russian invasion from the ground, ensured that his reporting remained balanced and that both sides of the story were heard impartially. However, on March 22, YouTube blocked WION, not allowing any new video uploads, ensuring total blockage.

And now, after massive support from its users for its campaign asking YouTube to unblock WION, the Big Tech giant has backed down. WION is now back online on YouTube after being unblocked.

YouTube apparently had an issue with one of WION’s videos from March 10 which showed two live speeches – one by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba and the other by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

On March 22, WION received a message from YouTube stating that it was blocking the channel from posting videos. He said the videos violated YouTube’s community guidelines.

WION appealed to YouTube but was rejected. WION then wrote to YouTube asking for an explanation.

YouTube said, “Our Community Guidelines prohibit content that denies, minimizes, or trivializes well-documented violent events, including the Russian invasion of Ukraine, adding, “Under this policy, we have removed content, for example , denying that Russia invaded Ukraine or alleging that Ukrainian victims are actors in the crisis.”

WION ensures that the report reaches every corner of the world, is easily accessible to everyone and informs your opinion.

In the video, Sergei Lavrov said: “As to your question whether we are planning to attack other countries. We are not planning to attack other countries. We have not attacked Ukraine either. .We have explained many times that there is a situation that poses a direct threat to the security of the Russian Federation.”

These were spoken by the Russian Foreign Minister, not by WION. And WION didn’t approve of it either. WION simply broadcast the Russian Foreign Minister’s statement, just as the Ukrainian Minister’s statement was broadcast.

#YouTubeUnblockWION went viral on Twitter as the channel received nearly 25,000 tweets in support overnight.

WION does not believe in censorship or telling half the story.

Block everything Russia says, promote everything the West says. WION does not subscribe to this kind of journalism. The channel’s goal is to stay balanced.
