Clover Park Technical College receives $15,000 scholarship gift – The Suburban Times

Submitted by Kara Snyder, CPTC Foundation.

The Clover Park Technical College (CPTC) Foundation recently received some exciting news regarding the 16th Annual Scholarship Celebration, May 16-20. An anonymous donor has pledged to match every dollar raised for scholarships, up to a maximum of $15,000.

“We are delighted with this generous gift from a donor who attended our last ‘in person’ scholarship dinner, where he sat with one of our student recipients,” said Janet Holm, CEO of the CPTC Foundation. “The donor was moved by the student’s story of being a homeless military veteran who returned to school despite significant personal challenges.”

This student had such an impact on the donor that when he saw the advertisement for this year’s scholarship event, he contacted the CPTC Foundation with an offer of support.

“CPTC’s student body is a very diverse group of individuals. It is important to listen to students when explaining how a scholarship meets their needs,” says the donor. “These are ordinary people, who plan to continue their education to improve their lives and those of their families. As a donor, we want to do everything we can to make these goals a reality.

During the CPTC Foundation Scholarship Celebration, purchases of Gourmet To Go dinners and auction items, as well as direct donations, will be matched dollar for dollar. “Please order a delicious meal, or bid on this gift card, or contribute $25 because it will be doubled!” Holm said. “This matching gift will help even more students facing difficult economic circumstances to stay in school.

CPTC’s 16th Annual Foundation Scholarship Celebration, May 16-20, 2022, includes a drive-through “Gourmet To Go” dinner created by CPTC Culinary Arts students and a dessert prepared by the arts program of the CPTC pastry. Dinner will be available for pickup Friday, May 20 from 3:30-6:00 p.m. at the CPTC campus, 4500 Steilacoom Blvd SW in Lakewood.

Order Gourmet To Go dinners by May 9 at cptc2022.maxgiving.bid. And be on the lookout for an online auction filled with local treats and experiences, plus the opportunity to make direct donations.

Proceeds from the event enable the CPTC Foundation to provide scholarships, emergency aid and lifesaving support to Clover Park Technical College and its students.

According to the anonymous donor, “a scholarship could make the difference between students who continue their studies and those who stop before achieving their goals. The support we provide to these students is not only important to them, it is also very important to the health and growth of our community.
