Acting U.S. lawyer Ellison C. Travis announced that the Department of Justice’s Office of Violence Against Women (OVW) has awarded $ 270,782 collectively to the Louisiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence, Inc. and the Louisiana Foundation Against Sexual Assault, Inc. to help victims of sexual assault assault.

Nationally, the OVW is awarding 56 awards totaling $ 28.2 million under the Sexual Assault Formula of Service program for fiscal year 2021.

The Formula SAS program provides grants to states and territories to help them support rape relief centers (including out-of-territory rape relief centers and tribal government programs) and non-profit, non-governmental organizations that provide basic services, direct intervention and related assistance to victims of sexual assault, regardless of their age. The funds provided through the SAS Formula program are designed to complement other sources of funding aimed at addressing sexual assault at state and territorial levels. Rape crisis centers and other non-profit organizations, such as blended programs providing both domestic violence and sexual assault intervention services, play a critical role in helping victims of sexual assault throughout the healing process, as well as helping victims through medical, criminal and other procedures. social support systems.

The OVW plays a leading role in developing the country’s capacity to reduce violence through the implementation of the Violence Against Women Act and related laws.
