Here’s where you can find open insurance help in Corpus Christi

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Residents can begin purchasing health insurance under the Affordable Care Act from Tuesday.

As often, with new federal rules and varying costs and circumstances, open registration can be tricky. But there’s help right here in Coastal Bend if residents need help comparing affordable plans.

Will Heavin, director of Heavin and Associates Insurance Agencysaid health insurance is important to everyone and his office can help residents find the best option, free of charge.

“With the new law that was signed recently, if they have coverage at work that is too expensive, they can now get financial assistance, also known as a grant to help pay for the plan,” he said. -he declares. “So it’s something new and we were happy to let them know.”

Heavin’s agency on Gollihar has already helped many residents get coverage and figure out what subsidies they qualify for.

Nancy Hernandez works for a small company that does not offer medical insurance. She said it affected her and her family. A colleague introduced her to Will Heavin in mid-October, and she will be fully covered starting Tuesday.

“I had to pay out of pocket every time I went to the doctor, and it was expensive, especially the drugs,” she said. “Now I only have to pay $5 to see the doctor and $35 for the specialists, which helps me a lot.”

The agency helps families of all ages and income levels. They can do in-person registrations or phone appointments.
