In recognition of October as Family Violence Awareness Month, Family Services Inc. will host a Luncheon, “Life in the digital age: understanding technological abuse”. It will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, October 29 at the American Legion Social Hall in Legion Park, Hollidaysburg.
This training will explore the extent of technology abuse and its impact on survivors. Security and privacy considerations will also be discussed. Participants will leave with a better understanding of technology abuse and its impact as well as the safety measures survivors can take.
The speakers will be:
* Elaina Roberts, Technology Safety Legal Manager, NNEDV Safety Net Project. It provides training and technical assistance on cyber abuse with a focus on offender behavior and technology misuse, victim safety and impact, as well as collection and admission of digital evidence.
* Peter Weeks, Blair County District Attorney. He joined the office in 2007 as a special anti-drug prosecutor. He was promoted to first deputy district attorney in 2018 before assuming his current role as chief prosecutor.
