RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK – Here’s our exclusive roundup of upcoming events taking place across North Carolina through the end of April.

Included are the latest meetups, conferences, workshops, application deadlines, and networking events happening in Asheville, Charlotte, the Triad, Wilmington, and other parts of the state.

Many events will take place in person as some organizers return to live events. Others will be held virtually and are noted as such.

1 Million Lake Norman Cups

Every Wednesday morning, entrepreneurs from the Normandy basin come together to present their businesses to mentors, advisors and other startups. Sign up to meet new people and collaborate with other entrepreneurs.

1 Million Robeson County Cups

April 13, 8-9am @Givens Performing Arts Center, UNC Pembroke

At this monthly event, local entrepreneurs in Robeson County will showcase their products/services to their peers and network with the startup community.

Held weekly, 1 Million Cups Charlotte features a presentation from a local startup followed by a community Q&A.

Each month, a handful of Charlotte-area businesses headline PitchBreakfast, showcasing their products and services for five minutes, after which they’ll take questions from the audience and a panel of entrepreneurs and experts. This month’s hybrid event will feature companies from RevTech Labs.

This weekly event brings together entrepreneurs from the Wilmington and Cape Fear community to come together over coffee, occasional startup presentations and conversation.

Capital Connects Investor Education

April 13, 1-4pm @transform BSG

Held in conjunction with Capital Connects 2022, this three-hour workshop will cover early stage investment criteria for new and existing investors, investment appraisal and structuring, term sheets and more.

Launch Capital Connects Greensboro Pitch Competition

April 13, 4-8pm @transform BSG

Launching Greensboro’s Capital Connects pitch competition offers companies that raise seeds and Series A’s the opportunity to win cash and in-kind prizes and connect with regional investors and community members.

This monthly event brings together small business owners, startups, investors and Triad community leaders for an evening of networking.

synerG and the Greensboro Jaycees are hosting a networking night for young professionals in the Greensboro area.

Application Deadline: WNC Appalachian Opportunity

April 15

Mountain BizWorks will host the North Carolina launch of Opportunity Appalachia, a five-state program that invests in rural and downtown development and redevelopment projects. Selected communities will receive between $30,000 and $75,000 in technical assistance to support their proposed development projects.

Nisbet Venture Fund Pitch Competition 2022

Idea-stage and established companies that have been selected to participate in Davidson College’s Nisbet Venture Fund will pitch their startups in this in-person pitch competition.

The Greensboro Chamber’s Small Business Awards event will celebrate the contributions of businesses, organizations and community leaders.

IdeaFest Business Pitch Contest

April 28, 1 p.m. @Cottontail Weddings & Events (in Virginia)

The Launch Place, a seed fund based in Virginia but serving local startups through its RTP office, is hosting its seventh annual IdeaFest Business Pitch competition. Prizes totaling $10,000 will be split among the top three contestants, and winners will also be eligible to receive 25 hours of free business advice from The Launch Place. The event is free and open to the public.
