Opening of registrations at the OCI for the winter


COLUMBIA BASIN – Washington’s Utilities and Rental Assistance Program OCI began open enrollment for the winter season on October 1.

To be eligible, customers must live in the Upper Yakima Valley or Grant or Adams counties, meet income guidelines, show proof of income for the previous three months, and provide proof of ID for each member fireplace.

Some of the assistance programs available through OCI for residents of Grant and Adams counties include:

• Energy support: Provides financial assistance to households at or below federal poverty guidelines to offset a household’s energy load.

• Rental assistance: Provides financial assistance to households at or below county Median Average Income (AMI) guidelines to offset a household’s rent burden.

• Utility Support: Provides financial assistance to households at or below county median average income (AMI) guidelines to offset a household’s utility burden. TRAP Utility Assistance Funds will prioritize households that (1) have an income at or below 50% of the AMI (guidelines are posted on https://bit.ly/3CDqy3Q) and (2) have one or more persons who are unemployed and have been unemployed for 90 days prior to their application date.

• Mortgage assistance: Provides financial assistance to households at or below county Median Average Income (MIA) guidelines to help offset a household’s mortgage burden.
