Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey pledges $ 3 million to guaranteed income programs

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey on Thursday pledged to donate $ 3 million to a group of mayors advocating for guaranteed federal income. Dorsey’s donation will help a network of mayors in 15 cities fight the economic effects of thepandemic.
“It’s a tool to close the wealth and income gap, level systemic race and gender inequalities, and create economic security for families,” Dorsey said on twitter.
Tech companies have taken an important place in COVID-19 relief efforts. Apple hasand Samsung provides funds and medical supplies as well as , among several other efforts.
Dorsey announced in April that he was goingto finance the reduction of , the disease caused by . Once the pandemic is over, he added, the money will fund girls’ health and education, as well as universal basic income.
